still here...

I haven't written a blog post in what feels like forever...well actually it is ALMOST forever as it has been nearly 4 months! The reason for this is my work load at the moment is crazily busy and uni work has to come first.
Plus all my posts would be about how stressed I am which would be slightly depressing for anyone who may stumble across my blog. haha

I'm now back home for xmas and making the most of having the heating on and eating mince pies.

I hope everyone has a great xmas and hopefully will update again soon. In the meantime you can follow me on twitter @rianldavies (or on instagram rianldavies)

New hair au natural...

Last friday I finally got my hair done!
I hadn't dyed it since May and have been waiting for the end of the summer to tone down the 'blondness'.

It's now almost my natural colour at the roots and it then fades down to an ash blond. It's a lot more flattering than the bleach blonde look I sported over summer and a lot less high maintenance which is great for my student budget.

Day 6: Rainy rainy rain...

Okay so we have been very lucky with the weather so far but yesterday the heavens opened in dramatic fashion and have not stopped!!!

We headed out early to Polzeath again with out wet suits as the waves were approx. 5-6foot. Although a little choppy I still had a great time. My arms and shoulders are knackered now though...I'm in desperate need of a massage.

We spent the rest of the day messing about on the beach and drinking hot chocolate.

Day 5: Newquay...

Yesterday me and the bf decided to head to Newquay to have a little explore. We headed to Fistral bay but the waves were seriously non-existent so then we headed into Newquay town for a little mooch about.
Newquay wasn't what I expected really?! A lot of people had 'bigged it up' to me so I was a little let down. I know it's a great night out but I expected it to be a little more picturesque but I still had a great time exploring it's beautiful coastline.

That evening we ate out at a little pub in Port Isaac and had a few drinks which was great. Only a day or so left until I have to go back to work. Hopefully we are going to get back in the water if the waves pick up.

Day 4 part 2: riding some waves...

After exploring Tintagel, in the afternoon we went to a pick your own strawberry field which I haven't done since I was about 9!?

We then headed to Polzeath and the bf actually got me in the water! We did some body boarding for over an hour and I LOVED it!!! It's meant to be a decent surf tomorrow and if so we are going to head there again.

Day 4: edge of the world...

In the morning we went to Tintagel which is the legendary birthplace of King Arthur. The scenery was stunning and the cliffs so sheer that it felt like the edge of the world.

The bf did some snorkelling and swimming in the little cove and took the photo of the waterfall for me. I meanwhile chilled on the beach and caught some sun.

Day 3: Pimms & Camel Trail...

Yesterday we headed to Padstow and hired out bikes. I really wanted to hire a tandem but the bf wasn't as keen haha.
We rode the Camel Trail to Bodmin and back (getting covered in mud in the process!) but it was such a fun day and great scenery.
The weather was a bit showery but there was still time for a spot of harbour-side chilling with some Pimms

Day 2: super sand castles...

Today we hit the fine sands of Polzeath. The sun was shining (surprisingly) and I spent the day building a 'super castle', chilling and eating Cornish ice-cream...yum.
Even though I can do all these things at home on Weymouth beach I don't really have the time to do it so it's nice to be a tourist for a week at the seaside

Cornwall day 1...

At the moment I am staying in cornwall for a week with my bf and his family. I'm not usually the sort of person who would go on holiday with MY family let alone someone else's...but so far so good :)
We are staying in Port Isaac which is a beautiful small harbour village. Yesterday we ate at one of the pubs (camembert and thyme is amazing!) and explored the beach and caves.
Today the bf is going to try to get me to go surfing!!? I think he will be lucky if I get in the water! Haha

Sail away...

Ben Ainslie has won his 4th Olympic Gold medal!!!
Everyone in Weymouth and Portland has been buzzing off of the excitement of having the Olympic sailing events right on our door-step. The Cove ( the pub that I work at) has been rammed to the rafters with all of the sailing athletes and let's just say that the Brazilians definitely know how to party! haha

To soak up the sailing spirit I went into Weymouth again to view the live footage and will be keeping my eyes peeled for a Ben Ainslie or Ian Percy spotting as they come into the pub every so often :)

Me looking a little hungover but very happy

Go team GB...

I am loving the Olympics! Not sure what I will do when it is over?!
All of the sailing events are taking place right on my door-step and having got to know a few of the sailing teams from work it is really nice to get involved and cheer everyone on.
Me and the girls popped down to the beach today where they are screening the sailing live on big screens. Nothing beats an ice cream in the sun on the beach and getting to watch our country succeed...come on Ben Ainslie!!! Woooo

Reminiscing...

Okay I have been home for nearly two weeks now but I would love to go back to beni!! It was amazing! and now I am super excited about Bestival in September!

Here is a little taster of some of my beni 2012 experiences! I would def' recommend this festival for anyone who hates the mud and rain that comes with a British festival. It was so nice to not have to bring wellies...although the heat is extremely hard work so pack lots of sun-cream.

Top Beni 2012 memories:

1- The pre-beni warm up with the girls at Em's Auntie's Place in Spain. It was the perfect way to ease into the festival...and it meant we all had a lovely tan before the festival started

2- Dancing to The Stone Roses, Bombay Bicycle Club, Noel Gallagher's high flying birds, Chase and Status etc etc etc It was amazing!!!!!

3- The random dj decks and bands that popped up and did surprise gigs in the street! This just wouldn't happen in the UK because of health and safety, noise control blah blah blah...an impromptu party is the best!

4- Chilling at the beach and water park every day!!! Soaking up the sun with cocktails, fresh salads and water that wasn't so cold that it made your toes want to fall off  :)

Plus I finally got to go on holiday with the bf...it was his first 'hot holiday' in years as usually you can't prise him off of the snowy mountains.

Such a great time and great memories. Thank god it's sunny in England or else I really couldn't handle being home

Pre-beni warm up...

I can't believe Beni festival 2012 is over already!?
After 10 scorching days in the sun it is now back to the reality of a not-so-hot British summer boooo.
I started the holiday off at Emily's auntie's villa near Alicante where we chilled, caught some rays and made the most of the pool and electrical fans...btw. this is super luxury compared to a tent at Beni!!

super cocktails!!!
After 5 relaxing days we caught a train from Alicante to Benicassim to start our week long camping 'experience' and the four days of music started on the thursday-sunday.
I met up with the Bf, my sister, Luke and Layla at the train station and they joined the party and beni festival 2012 kicked off with a bang!!
I wish I was back there already.

More carnage and photos to come...

We're all going on a summer holiday...

Today I finally fly out to Spain for a few days of relaxation and much needed sun. On Monday we will be heading to the festival of dreams (a.k.a benicassim festival) to enjoy the musical delights of Florence and the machine, The Stone Roses and Bob Dylan to name but a few.
I am super excited to say the least!!

I have spent the morning getting ready, packing my case and generally getting stressed out as I am convinced I have forgotten something?! Mmmm we will soon see.

All packed and ready to go...just hope it's under 15kg?!

Secret skulls...

I picked up this unusual bracelet in my favourite shade of turquoise from a vintage Market recently. On closer look the beads are actually skulls...perfect for toughening up a girly outfit

Ombre nails...

My favourite nails that I have done so far.
Move over ombré hair and bring on ombré nails.
I have wanted to do this nail design for ages ever since I saw a similar design on Tumblr and after a bit of research on the net I found a similar tutorial.
I created this look using three different nail colours and a make up sponge.
So simple, yet effective!

Think I'm def gonna have to have these at Benicassim festival. Only a week til I fly to Spain and escape this horrendous British summer.
Yay!

I have an addiction...

Hello my name is Rian and I am addicted to nail varnish.
Sheer, glitter, matte...it doesn't matter I purchase them all!!

I decided I needed to clear out some of my nail polish due to them drying out but mostly due to the sheer excess of them all. I am a bit OCD when it comes to my nails in the way that I paint them probably twice a week and won't put up with chips. I don't particularly look after my nails or anything, I just like bright paint box shades on my nails at all times.

After the clear out...yes there was more!
Plus my top coats and nail art pens.

Realistically I probably buy a lot of nail polish as it's a lot easier and cheaper to update my look than if I were to buy clothing. Yes so this addiction is recession proof haha.

Today I decided to wear my red ditzy floral playsuit (to contrast with the grey and rainy English sky) and teamed it with a denim boyfriend shirt and zesty green nails.
Playsuit- Motel
Denim shirt- Topshop
Orange ring- Topshop
 Spiked ring- Rock n' Rose

Oh and for those of you who haven't already snatched one up... Vogue is only £2 this month!! Yay.

More money for nail varnish then...
